We are currently recruiting a Care Assistant for our client based in Plymouth.
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and dedicated Care Assistant to join our residential care team supporting older people, including individuals living with dementia. You will provide high-quality person-centred care, promote independence and help residents maintain their dignity, wellbeing and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate and person-centred care to older people, including residents living with dementia.
- Support residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting and mobility.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with residents, families and colleagues.
- Act as a Keyworker, ensuring individual care needs, preferences and wellbeing are appropriately supported.
- Communicate effectively with residents, relatives and other professionals.
- Organise and participate in meaningful activities that promote residents’ wellbeing and independence.
- Complete accurate daily records, care notes and reports in line with care home procedures.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
- Promote dignity, choice, independence and equality at all times.
- Recognise and report any changes in residents’ physical, emotional or behavioural needs.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 6 months’ experience working in residential care for older people, ideally with experience supporting people living with dementia.
- Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, NVQ Level 3 in Care/Social Care, or equivalent.
- Knowledge and understanding of dementia care and person-centred support.
- Understanding of the basic principles of care.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to write clear and accurate care reports and maintain appropriate records.
- Experience or understanding of organising and supporting activities for residents.
- Ability to provide personal care while maintaining dignity and respect.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
