Brentwood sits just inside Essex on the Elizabeth line, around 36 to 40 minutes from London Liverpool Street, and that commuter-belt position shapes its jobs market more than any single factory does. Finance and insurance is one of the borough's leading sectors, alongside health and social care, retail and construction. Much of the higher-skilled office work is white-collar and London-facing, so the local picture is a mix of professional services on the doorstep and a daily outflow of commuters heading west into the City and Canary Wharf.
