Chelmsford is Essex's county town and only city, a commuter base of around 180,000 people. Warehousing and distribution cluster at Springfield Business Park (CM2), on the north-east edge of the city near the A12 Boreham interchange, where Aldi, Parcelforce and Menzies operate. Transport shapes the local labour market, with substantial commuting in both directions. Chelmsford station is on the Greater Anglia main line, with trains to London Liverpool Street in about 35 minutes and the fastest around 30, running up to five times an hour at peak. The A12 links the city to the M25 and to Colchester and the east-coast ports, and the A130 feeds in from south Essex.
