Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer
Location: Essex & Southern Suffolk
Coverage: CO, CM, SS and some IP postcodes
Rate: £250 per day + expenses
Contract: Long-term contract, anticipated to commence 1 September 2026 and run until March 2027
Vehicle: Own works vehicle required
The Role
ProGroup Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer to support a newly awarded fire service and maintenance contract for a leading housing provider across Essex and Southern Suffolk.
The successful engineer will be responsible for carrying out planned servicing, maintenance and general repairs across a range of fire safety systems within residential properties.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for a long-term contract with a strong pipeline of work across a defined geographical area.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned servicing and maintenance of fire safety systems.
Diagnose faults and complete general repairs where required.
Complete servicing and maintenance of:
Fire Alarm Systems
Emergency Lighting
Automatic Opening Vents (AOVs)
Attend residential properties across Essex and Southern Suffolk.
Complete accurate service reports and documentation.
Identify defects and recommend remedial works where appropriate.
Liaise professionally with residents, customers and other contractors while working on occupied properties.
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer with a strong background in the servicing and maintenance of fire safety systems.
You should have:
Previous experience working as a Fire Alarm / Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer.
Practical experience servicing and fault-finding fire alarm systems.
Experience with emergency lighting and/or AOV systems.
The ability to diagnose faults and undertake general repairs.
Good knowledge of relevant fire safety standards and regulations.
Strong reporting and documentation skills.
Own reliable works vehicle.
Contract & Benefits
Up to £250 per day, depending on experience and capability.
Expenses paid in addition to the daily rate.
Long-term contract anticipated through to March 2027.
Consistent workload across Essex and Southern Suffolk.
Localised geographical coverage, primarily CO, CM and SS postcodes, with some IP areas.
Opportunity to work on a newly awarded contract with an established housing provider.
