Sales Key Account Manager

Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Sales Key Account Manager on behalf of our client. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced account management professional to join a growing commercial team, taking responsibility for developing and managing key customer relationships across the UK, Ireland and overseas subsidiaries. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building long-term partnerships, identifying commercial opportunities, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Main Purpose of the Role

As the Sales Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of strategically important customer accounts, ensuring strong client relationships are maintained while driving business growth through account retention, upselling and new opportunities. You will act as the key point of contact between customers and internal departments, ensuring service delivery meets customer expectations and business objectives. The role involves regular travel throughout the UK and Ireland, with occasional overseas travel.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customer accounts, acting as the primary point of contact.
• Build trust with customers through regular communication and a proactive approach to account management.
• Identify opportunities for account growth through renewals, cross-selling, upselling and strategic development.
• Work closely with internal departments including Sales, Operations, Finance and Customer Service to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Clearly define customer expectations, account scope and commercial agreements.
• Monitor account performance against agreed objectives and implement account plans where required.
• Coordinate meetings, maintain accurate customer records and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
• Identify potential risks within customer accounts and escalate where appropriate.
• Support the sales team and local service managers in delivering commercial objectives.
• Travel to customer sites across the UK, Ireland and overseas subsidiaries as required.

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records using CRM systems, including Salesforce.
• Produce reports and monitor account performance against key business metrics.
• Contribute towards customer retention, revenue growth and referral opportunities.
• Represent the business professionally when meeting clients and attending customer visits.
• Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained at all times.
• Work collaboratively across the wider business to achieve company objectives.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

• A minimum of 2 years' B2B sales, account management or business development experience.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing abilities.
• The ability to manage multiple customer accounts and prioritise workload effectively.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM system.
• A commercial mindset with the ability to identify business opportunities.
• A flexible approach and willingness to travel, including overnight stays when required.
• Experience within the electrical, industrial, tools or PPE sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Full, fluent English communication skills.

Working Pattern & Benefits

• Hours: 40 hours per week (or as required to fulfil the role)
