What you'll be doing

As a Vocational Assessor, you'll guide learners through their qualification journey, helping them build confidence, competence and professional skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assessing knowledge and competence-based qualifications through workplace observations, professional discussions and portfolio evidence. 
• Providing supportive, constructive feedback that helps learners develop. 
• Managing your own learner caseload and planning assessments effectively. 
• Monitoring learner progress to ensure timely achievement. 
• Building positive relationships with managers to support workforce development. 
• Maintaining accurate assessment records and awarding body compliance. 
• Supporting quality assurance activities. 
• Delivering learning sessions where appropriate – if this is a new skill for you or something you’ve done before, we’ll support you every step of the way.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same, and where you'll spend your time supporting real people in a real working environment.

About you

Essential

• Recognised Assessor qualification (A1, CAVA or equivalent) 
• Experience assessing vocational qualifications within Health & Social Care, Residential Childcare or Education 
• Excellent communication and coaching skills 
• Ability to confidently assess workplace competence 
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage your own caseload 
• Passion for developing others 

Desirable

• Internal Quality Assurance qualification (or willingness to work towards with employer support) 
• Experience within residential childcare, specialist education or learning disability services 
• Experience delivering training or facilitating learning
